Definition and characteristics of a drawing

My group included Tou and Logan. Our group had to come up with a definition for drawing. We decided upon the definition below.

Drawing- creation of an imagery using various lines and marks.

It was difficult coming up with a definition. It was like coming up with a definition for art. So we left the definition quite open still for interpretation.

We also had to define some characteristics of an excellent drawing. Of course one would apply strong principles of design to enhance his or her drawing, but here are a few characteristics besides the design principles that would make up an outstanding drawing.

-Thick and thin lines aka line variation or line weight
-Variety of marks
-Confident marks
-Intentional marks
-Accidental marks
-Value and contrast
